The "hero image" on the front page comes from a series of advertising postcards issued about 40 years ago by Skandinaviska Skolan (Scandinavian School) in the Swedish township Kållered. The postcards were advertising for the school's computer courses, and carried the text Starta datakurs nu! (Begin a computer course now!)
The photo origins from an era when programmers were still using text-only computer terminals, and men with full beards and oversized glasses were not yet called hipsters. It was in these days that my interest in computers and programming started to evolve. However, I didn't buy my own computer (Commodore Amiga 2000) until ten years later.
The photographer is unknown, and Skandinaviska Skolan does no longer exist. The image was grabbed from this website for postcard collectors
